The recent announcements of extra money for road resurfacing in Swansea, although welcome, is ‘too little, too late’ . The Local Lib Dems have been calling for more money to be put into roads for years, and only now have the council listened.

The backlog of repairs remains around £75m and at the same time, the council has allocated over £10m to subsidise the privately run Skyline project on Kilvey Hill.

‘Money can be found for prestigious projects, but not for sorting out the basics,’ Opposition leader Chris Holley said.‘We have been highlighting this problem for years but this investment is a little too late for those who’ve damaged their vehicles on potholes.' The council has allocated £11.84m for roads this year.
