Protect our Welsh NHS
It’s time to protect our Welsh NHS.
Under Labour, our health services have crumbled - and neither Plaid Cymru nor Reform UK have the answers to fix it. People are rightly worried. Worried about our NHS being run down or privatised by Reform UK. Worried about the damage that Plaid’s divisive push for independence would do to jobs, investment and Wales’ future.
The Welsh Liberal Democrats are determined to protect our NHS and deliver better for patients and our hardworking health staff. Only by stopping Reform’s privatisation and Plaid’s independence plans can we protect our NHS for future generations - and only the Welsh Lib Dems can be trusted to make that happen.
The Welsh Liberal Democrats will fight to:
- End the social care crisis with an urgent investment in 5,000 new social care beds and at-home support places, relieving pressure on our NHS hospitals.
- Train more GPs in Wales to end the shortage and give everyone quicker access to their local doctor.
- Make evidence-based prevention a foundation of our Welsh NHS, including a comprehensive mid-life health programme for adults over 40 that spots problems before they get serious.
End the Morriston Ambulance Scandal
It’s everybody’s worst nightmare - a loved one has an accident and the ambulance takes too long to arrive. Morriston Hospital has been in the news for all the wrong reasons.
Queues of ambulances wait outside as there is no space for patients in A&E. Meanwhile people who need an ambulance are stuck waiting.
Lib Dem campaigner Sam Bennett has a plan. By bringing all inpatient beds back to Gorseinon Hospital, and reopening other community hospitals across Swansea and Gower, A&E beds can be freed up to provide quicker care.
Sam said: “We need more community hospital beds and care facilities across our area, to help Morriston Hospital which is struggling to cope with demand. “Freeing up these beds that are desperately needed for emergency care will end the scandal of ambulances queueing outside Morriston Hospital A&E.
